One of the land settlements founded by William Penn in 1680's, Bucks County, is named after Penn family's home in England, Buckinghamshire. The county is situated in Pennsylvania north of Philadelphia and south of Princeton, New jersey. Originally extended to New York Colonial line, the county is reduced to its present boundaries with 605 square miles of land and 15.8 square miles of water. Approximately, there are 610,000 people living in the county (about 2,000 alumni of the University of Pennsylvania live in the county). The county is comprised of 23 boroughs and 31 townships.
